Yes. It can get you more emotionally involved with a person who is going to stink up your life, cost incredible amounts of money, and probably die several years sooner than a non-smoker. You may also end up nursing a cancer patient, or a person with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, who you will get to watch die slowly and painfully.
