The Daisy is a low powered BB rifle. It is capable of killing a duck but the animal will suffer before death. It is best to use a pellet rifle not a BB rifle. I also suggest using hollow point pellets for Hunting. Pellet deform when they hit a target and make a clean kill. BB do not deform and are a poor hunting weapon. A head shot is best. You may also need a license to hunt ducks is some countries.
Daisy has made about 5 different Versions of the 1938B BB rifle over the years. If you want mode information I suggest you contact Daisy. Daisy offers a FREE service to tell you more about you old Daisy. See the link below.
The Daisy model 94 carbine and model 111 Western carbine both shot BB's in the .175 caliber, not pellets in the .177 caliber.
Donald Duck by a long shot
Model 94 Carbine. 850 shot Plastic stock and forearm. Gold paint long horn & logo on left side., Dummy hammer on stock. If this is your rifle it was made between 1955-62. See the link below to get more information from Daisy.
Duck hunters normally use shotguns with #4 or #2 steel shot. Either will kill a human at any range under about 50 yards, and injure them to about 150 yards..
Daisy has a very screwy and unusual way of numbering air guns and rifles. Example: Model 111-B American Youth. Boy holding first Daisy on side mfg 1998 Model 111 Western Carbine 700 shot plastic stock mfg 1963-78 No 111 Western Carbine 700 shot plastic stock mfg 1963-78 No 111 Model 40 Red Ryder, 8 different variations of this model then it became the 1938 Red Ryder model in 1975. Notice the KEY words "No" verses "Model" Confused enough, So is everyone else. There is NO model 111 40, But don't tell Daisy they may want to make one.
Yes you can kill a duck with a pellet rifle, but it depends on the model and where you shoot the duck. Cheap pellet rifles under $100 usually are not powerful enough to put the duck down without it suffering. A good pellet rifle $150 or more will be sufficient. Also I suggest you use hunting pellets (Hollowpoint) they will be the most effective. A head shot is the best place to put it down quickly. Also it may require a license to shoot the Duck depending on where you live.
I'm going to attempt to answer this. The reason I hesitate is because Daisy have an unusual numbering system for their air guns. Daisy made a no. 111 model 40 from 1940 to around 1966. it was part of the "Red Ryder" series. It was made in 8 variations. They also made a Model 111 "Western Carbine" from 1963-78 (I think this is your rifle) It's a 700 shot plastic stock rifle similar to a Red Ryder. They also made a model 111-B American youth in 1998. One of these has to be your rifle
Model 94 Carbine. 850 shot Plastic stock and forearm. Gold paint long horn & logo on left side., Dummy hammer on stock. If this is your rifle it was made between 1955-62
It all depends on the current condition of the rifle and does it still work. Unfortunately you have not given any information about the condition so it is not possible to answer you here. So here is what I suggest. Daisy offers a free service to help you with more information about your Daisy. See the link below. I apologize for not noting the condition. Looks like it has never been used. Mint condition. In 1952 Daisy started using "batch numbers" instead of serial numbers, because they made so many of them. The model 1938 Red Ryder was a 650 shot model. (There are 14 different versions of the Red Ryder model. Not to be confused with the "1938 gold rush," "1938 Millennium" "1938 Land of buffalo Bill," etc etc.) In Mint condition it would have an estimated value of around $50 to $55.
He got shot by a guy in the hand or black duck with a machine gun.
