on My 1984 LeSabre, I found that there is a tab near where the wiper arm mounts to the pivot. If you bent the wiper arm back and pull the tab out with a pliers your can then remove the wiper arm. After you put the new one one you have push the tab back in. It has to go far enough in for the spring to be able to pull the wiper against the window.

On this particular model, I was able to remove the wiper arm by doing the following: At the base of the arm itself where the arm is attached to the spindle, there is a cover. Taking a flat screwdriver pop off the cover exposing a retaining nut. Remove the nut and with a slight twisting motion the arm will become loose and can be pulled off of the spindle. Taking the new arm, simply place the arm down on the spindle and tighten the retaining nut back into place and put the plastic cover back on. On a side note, I found it easy on realigning the new arm by taking the blade off of the old one, and placing it on the new one. When I put the arm back on the window, the blade lined up with the spot where it was previously. By tightening the bolt back down, it pulled the arm back onto the spindle in place.
