Islam prohibits the use of any intoxicating substance in any form like cannabis. Such a substance can only be used as a source of medicine for the cure of some disease.

Addition: I used to smoke so I know. Who makes salah when high? Is leaving the salah haram? The disagreemet here is if it makes you Kafir or not!!!

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever misses the 'Asr prayer (intentionally) then it is as if he lost his family and property." Sahih Bukhari

Addition: Most Islamic scholars today are of the opinion that cannabis is haram (prohibited), as reflected by the above answer, which I leave, because in Islam there are often multiple schools of thought on various issues. Often cited is the first part of the Qur'anic verse 2:219, translated by Shakir as "They ask you about intoxicants and games of chance. Say: In both of them there is a great sin and means of profit for men, and their sin is greater than their profit..." However, the word translated as intoxicants, khamr, literally means "wine", and so the Qur'an never prohibits cannabis, I am aware of, despite the fanor do any hadiths ct that it was known to be in use in the Middle East and specifically 'Arabia at the time of the Prophet Muhammad. Previous to colonialism especially, use of cannabis by Muslims, especially in South Asia, Afgahnistan and North Africa, was very common, and many prominent medieval 'ulama (Islamic scholars) gave fatwas to the effect that it was halal. One sticks in my mind as labelling it haram to refer to cannabis as haram, since it is forbidden to disallow what has not been made forbidden by the Qur'an and Sunnah. Wallahu 'alam (And God knows best).

Addition: Peace to all. Can you please mention the scholars and referrences to their fatwas', that ruled that cannabis is halal? I know only of some options for Abu Hanifah, may God have mercy on his soul, regarding the wine issue. I understand his famous student Abu Muhammad changed the option of the Madhab when the hadith reach him. "Whatever intoxicates in a large quantity, even its little quantity is forbidden. This has remained the option of all the madhabs of sunnah since this time? WA Allahu'alam

.AnswerIs it not true that it is scientific proofen that cannabis users die earlier than normal people (so they rush their dead).

The Noble Qur'an - An-Nisa 4:29

...And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another). Surely, Allah is Most Merciful to you.

Hadith - Bukhari 2:445, Narrated Thabit bin Ad-Dahhak

The Prophet said, "Whoever intentionally swears falsely by a religion other than Islam, then he is what he has said, (e.g. if he says, 'If such thing is not true then I am a Jew,' he is really a Jew). And whoever commits suicide with piece of iron will be punished with the same piece of iron in the Hell Fire." Narrated Jundab the Prophet said, "A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allah said: My slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid Paradise for him."

Hadith - Bukhari 7:670, Narrated Abu Huraira

The Prophet said, "Whoever purposely throws himself from a mountain and kills himself, will be in the (Hell) Fire falling down into it and abiding therein perpetually forever; and whoever drinks poison and kills himself with it, he will be carrying his poison in his hand and drinking it in the (Hell) Fire wherein he will abide eternally forever; and whoever kills himself with an iron weapon, will be carrying that weapon in his hand and stabbing his abdomen with it in the (Hell) Fire wherein he will abide eternally forever.
