For about a good month or so after you have it. There will be the initial healing wherein it will scab over, but when you are ridding the skin of the scabbing, that is when it will really start to itch. No matter how great the urge, DON'T scratch the site since you can potentially be setting the healing time back and messing with the finished appearance of the piece. Instead, when the site itches, smack it a few times with your hand. This will settle the site and should make the urge to scratch dissipate without possibly sabotaging the final product. Also, keep up with your aftercare and make sure that you are applying non-scented lotion or lanoline balm to the site after your showers.

O.K., a professional tattooist will always shave the skin before he tattoos it...And anyone who has shaved an erogenous zone will know it itches when the hair grows back....Now add to that the feeling of the skin healing, which is marked by being very itchy, and you have a double-itch whammy...BUT, dont scratch it! As this will disturb the top layer of skin which will be re-forming...Try this instead...Slap it with short popping slaps, not hard enough to bruise, of course, but it will help satisfy the itch...Or pour some rubbing alcohol on it....By the time it starts itching it shouldn't burn it but will help cool and satisfy the itch....Hope this helps
