For about a good month or so after you have it. There will be the initial healing wherein it will scab over, but when you are ridding the skin of the scabbing, that is when it will really start to itch. No matter how great the urge, DON'T scratch the site since you can potentially be setting the healing time back and messing with the finished appearance of the piece. Instead, when the site itches, smack it a few times with your hand. This will settle the site and should make the urge to scratch dissipate without possibly sabotaging the final product. Also, keep up with your aftercare and make sure that you are applying non-scented lotion or lanoline balm to the site after your showers.

No, tattoos are not suppose to itch at all. sometimes the itching may be caused by a different agent or allergy but they definitely are not suppose to itch. get it checked out
