Well, for one thing, laptops are basically computers. They can compute like, what I'm guessing you're referring to, desktop computers. However, Desktop computers are actually cheaper to own that laptops, if you look at a comparison of price to performance. So in a sense, you get more bang for your buck with desktop computers as compared to laptops. If you're looking at matinence costs, etc., then it would still be cheaper to own a desktop pc. Laptops have a much higher chance of getting broken that desktop computers, and of course, data theft is a large problem with laptops if you accidentally leave yours in an airport or other public place.
Laptops, even if you choose one that doesn't preform as well as a desktop, will still be more expensive because when pricing a laptop, convenience is always taken into consideration. Since a laptop is portable, if you want to have the same performance of a desktop computer, you'll pay a lot more money for it than you would for a desktop.
The best brand of laptops is highly debatable amongst different people as each person has his or her own opinion. However, there are certain brands of laptops that seem to have higher ratings and reviews than some of the other laptops out there. Some of these brands include HP and Dell, both of which are popular in the world of computers and laptops.

Even though they both use basically the same parts Dell computers have been less reliable than HP computers. I would not recommend either brand. "They each have their own advantages and disadvantages. The laptops are functional, easily stored, easy to travel with, and plenty to choose from. Although they seem to be more expensive than the highly-stocked desktops; twice as much to be exact! The desktops have been fully loaded with programs, as well as functions such as quiet operating systems."
I'm uncertain about home computers, but laptops can be as cheap as £300 or more, depending on where you find them. My own laptop cost me around £450.

no but you can bring your own
To be honest, they're probably the same. The thing is that the desktop has its own set of problems and laptops have their own unique set of problems. It really just depends on what the problems are for each type of computer.

Impossible to answer.
