No, but like everywhere on the nordic hemisphere the night is longer than the day for half a year. Above the arctic circle, the sun doesn,t show at all in the darkest period. In Tromsø, the sun is below the horizon from November 25th to January 15th.
Yes, Norway experiences periods of darkness due to its high latitude. In winter, the northern parts can have extended periods of darkness, while in summer, the northern parts can have the Midnight Sun where the sun doesn't set for several weeks. The southern parts of Norway have more typical day and night cycles throughout the year.
Yes it does, just like everywhere else. However, since it's close to the North Pole, their days tend to be more extreme than in places further from the Pole.
For example, in New England, where I live, the day is almost 15.5 hours long on June 20th, which is the longest day of the year. However June 20th in Oslo (the capital city of Norway) is almost 19 hours long. The further north you go in Norway, the longer the sun stays up in the summer, until it actually gets to where it never sets.
On the island of Svalbard, which is a far northern island that belongs to Norway, the sun actually stays up for the whole summer and stays down for the whole winter.
Most of Norway isn't
In winter, yes.
Obviously. Norway has loads of natural sources of energy, waterfalls and rivers mostly. No, Norwegians do not live in the utter dark with candles.
it is different on each time of the year. at the summer it is light and sun day and night. at the spring it is dark from about 10-11 at the evening to 5-6 at the night. at the autumm there is dark from 7-8 at the morning to 9-10 at the evening. at the winter it is dark from 8-10 at the morning to 3-4 at the afternoon. remember to have in mind that Norway is a long country and there can be small differenses in different parts of Norway. I live in Lofoten and wrote how it is here.
