There has been a persistent ridge in place over the central US keeping things hot as air comes out of the south, and it helps that it's been so dry as well. And it is late July/early August in Oklahoma, so you can't expect it to be all that much cooler anyway.

Oklahoma experiences hot temperatures due to its geographic location in the southern Great Plains, which allows for strong, hot winds to blow in from the south. Additionally, the state's relatively flat terrain and abundance of sunshine contribute to the high temperatures.
