Photosynthesis occurs in the first 200 feet of the ocean with most of it occurring just below the surface. In tropical waters much occurs inside of corals. The corals protect the algae from predators and the algae provides the coral with food. Jelly fish also have a symbiotic relationship with algae. However turtles graze on jellyfish so the relationship is not perfect.

Photosynthesis primarily occurs in the surface layer of the ocean where sunlight penetrates, known as the euphotic zone. Phytoplankton, microscopic plant-like organisms, are responsible for carrying out photosynthesis in the ocean. These organisms play a crucial role in marine ecosystems by converting carbon dioxide into organic matter using sunlight as an energy source.
All photosynthesis occurs in the photic zone -- the top area of the ocean lit by the sun. No photosynthesis occurs below the photic zone (the aphotic zone) where the sunlight cannot penetrate.
Photosynthesis can occur from bacterium i.e. the green sulfur bacteria which use the low-light that are produced from hydrothermal vents. I do not know the scientific name for that bacterium are called, sorry. But it is possible for that bacterium to produce its own energy from photosynthesis.
various organisms in the ocean
this includes phytoplankton and green algae
hope this helped!
photosynethesis needs to happen beacause in order for the animals and the humans to livewe need photosynthesis or this to happen.
chloroplast
If the light is over, photosynthesis process will stop.
Oxygen is found at high levels near the surface of the ocean due to plant photosynthesis. Plants in the ocean, like phytoplankton, produce oxygen as a byproduct of photosynthesis, leading to high concentrations of oxygen in the surface waters.
