Galileo was inspired by 'philosophy of Aristotle.' The 'philosophy of Aristotle' was the concept that the earth was round. This idea intrigued him to the point of creating the telescope to find proof of either the earths sphere-like shape or evidence against it.

Galileo was motivated by a passion for understanding the natural world and a desire to push the boundaries of human knowledge through observation and experimentation. He was also driven by a strong sense of curiosity and a desire to challenge prevailing scientific beliefs of his time.

At first, Galileo wanted to be a monk, but his father didn't approve and he was pulled out of school to go to medical school. He developed an interest for the stars and finally became an astronomer.

Probably the monks. He was taught by monks for a while but he also went to collage where people studied astronomy, art, agriculture, mathematics and literature. So he might have been inspired to help people study the stars better, he was really good with literature, math and astronomy. He wrote several books after collage, one of his best books is called "Dialogo SPora I Due Massimi Sistemi Del Mondo, Tolemaico Copernicano." (Dialogue Concerning the two Chief World Systems, Ptolemaic and Copernican.)

Galileo Galilei invented the telescope and he discovered craters in the moon - which people had before believed it had been a smooth sphere - by looking through his telescope. He also found stars in the Milky Way and he observed phases of Venus, but he mostly stuck to writing books.

Galileo wanted to make the telescope to make money. He needed to make money to live. A telescope that could make items far away appear much larger could make a lot of money for it's inventor. Ship's captains, and military officers would want to buy it. His first objective was to sell an invention that would make him rich.
