Blood or air in the pleural cavity indicates a medical emergency. Blood in the pleural cavity suggests injury or bleeding within the chest, while air in the pleural cavity can indicate a collapsed lung or pneumothorax. Both conditions require urgent medical attention to prevent serious complications.

The right pleural cavity surrounds the right lung. It is the space between the lungs and the chest wall, containing a thin layer of fluid that helps reduce friction during breathing.
Pleural reaction refers to the inflammatory response of the pleura, the tissue lining the lungs and chest cavity, to injury or infection. It can manifest as symptoms like chest pain, difficulty breathing, and pleural effusion (fluid accumulation in the pleural space). Treatment depends on the underlying cause, which may include medications, drainage of fluid, or surgery.
The lung surface. It is a thin, double-layered membrane that helps protect and cushion the lungs while also allowing them to move easily during breathing. The pleural membrane also produces a small amount of fluid to reduce friction between the layers as the lungs expand and contract.
The mediastinum.
The pleural membrane lines the thoracic cavity. This cavity is the space between the chest wall and the lungs.
Empyema in the pleural cavity is also called pyothorax.

The hole must be covered as soon as possible. Otherwise, the air enters to the pleural cavity.

Hemothorax is a collection of blood in the space between the chest wall and the lung (the pleural cavity).
The pleural cavity is located in between the visceral and parietal of the lungs.
Pyothorax is an accumulation of pus in the pleural cavity. Hemothorax is an accumulation of blood in the pleural cavity.
