A somewhat less flabby answer:

A set of latitude/longitude numbers nails down one single point on the Earth's

surface. It's not possible for two different points to have the same coordinates,

and certainly not two whole states.

The point 40° North/100° West is located in northwestern Kansas, about 12 miles

northwest of the municipal airport at Norton, 13 miles southwest of the center of

Beaver City, Nebraska, and 620 feet south of the Kansas/Nebraska state line.
