∙ 14y agoOn providing a hypotonic environment outside the cell, the plasma membrane bursts.
When the cell membrane ruptures, the cellular contents are released to the environment as the cell membrane is the 'wall' that separates the cellular contents from the outer environment. In biological terminology, this is called cellular lysis.

∙ 14y agoWhen the cell membrane ruptures or breaks down, the cell loses its ability to maintain its internal environment and control the movement of substances in and out of the cell. This can lead to cell death and the release of cellular contents into the extracellular environment, triggering an inflammatory response and potentially harming neighboring cells.

∙ 11y agoThe cell will die.
The cell membrane/plasma membrane is a semipermeable lipid bilayer common to all living cells. It contains a variety of biological molecules, primarily proteins and lipids, which are involved in many cellular processes, and also serves as the attachment point for both the intracellular cytoskeleton and, if present, the cell wall.
If it ruptures all cell organelles will leak out due to the difference of osmotic pressure and will result in the eath of the cell.

∙ 9y agoPlasma membrane defines the boundary of the cell and regulates the flow of material into and out of the cell. Ruptured plasma membrane generally heals within no time but if rupturing does not heal, the cell contents will spill over and cell is killed.

∙ 9y agoThe plasma membrane is called a selective permeable membrane of the cell that maintains its homeostasis i.e., constant internal composition of the cell . If it breakdown the constant internal composition of the cell will be lost and it will not be able to perform its basic function. Such a cell with ruptured plasma membrane is killed.

∙ 9y agoAs an analogy, the membrane is like a plastic baggie that holds nutrients and support for the cell. If the baggie gets a hole, contents leak out. The cell cannot support itself for its own nutrients without that membrane. The cell dies.

If the plasma membrane ruptures, the cell's internal contents can leak out, disrupting cellular functions and potentially leading to cell death. The cell may also become more vulnerable to damage from external factors like toxins or pathogens.
The plasma membrane.
The cell membrane is also called the plasma membrane.
The cell membrane is also known as the plasma membrane or the cytoplasmic membrane. It is a biological membrane that separates all cells' interior from the outside, though can be permeated by selection ions and molecules. Its basic function is to protect the cell from its surroundings.
structural model of plasma membrane is called the selectively permeable membrane Structural model of the plasma membrane is called Fluid Mosaic Model.
lysis
Plasma Membrane is the outer covering of the cell that seperates its content from the surrounding medium. It is a selectively permeable membrane . If it rupture or breaks down the cytoplasm will come in direct contact with the surrounding medium and the act of selection will stop.
Plasma membrane defines the boundary of the cell and regulates the flow of material into and out of the cell. Ruptured plasma membrane generally heals within no time but if rupturing does not heal, the cell contents will spill over and cell is killed.
