Don't get me wrong, I'm not one for routinely comparing the smells of faeces of different people, but two educated suggestions are that:

  • older people have a different diet to those in younger age groups, so the foods cause a variation in the smell,
  • different species of bacteria inhabit the gut of the elderly, hence the differences.

It concerns me that the person asking this exclusively considers elderly persons' faeces more putrid than others, but hey.
