It's very, very hard, impossible in some cases. If you know the parents' genotype, then you can make a Punnett Square, but it's also possible that you might be left with just the probabilities of what might happen. Parents may go to genetic counseling to help determine the genotype of their child, especially if there is a history of a certain disorder in the family. As genetic engineering and "designer babies" become more and more common, then parents will be able to decide the genotype of their baby before it is even conceived.

Understanding the principles of genetics, such as dominant and recessive traits, can help predict what an offspring will look like. Punnett squares can also be used to determine the possible outcomes of genetic crosses between parents. Studying the genotypes and phenotypes of both parents can provide insight into the traits that may be passed on to their offspring.

It all depends on the parents. Say for instance if parent A has blond hair and parent B has brown hair, chances are the baby will have brown hair. Darker genes dominant over lighter genes, usualy. For more information see the related link below.

For a codominant traiit do the offspring of identical parents always look like the parent why?

No, the offspring of identical parents would not always look like the parents because everyone has dominant and recessive traits, where the recessive traits do not show but is still in DNA. That said, recessive traits not shown in parents can be passed on as dominant traits to offspring - making offspring not always identical to its parents. (this is also called genetic variation)
