How has Egypt been affected by its geography?

Egypt has developed as a society on the Nile River. Almost all the other parts of Egypt are arid desert, and are unable to support farming or living, because of their lack of water. 90% of Egypts population lives in the Nile River Delta, and another 5% lives in the Nile River Basin. Much of Egypts economic activity is based in the River Delta, in cities like Alexandria and nearby Cairo. Also, Egypt has an important place that was used for the Suez Canal, connecting the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea, and by extension Asia and the Middle East. This cut down on the Distance and Time it took to Ship oil and other peterochemicals from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Yemen, Iran, and Kuwait.

Does Egypt's geography effect its culture?

Egypt's geography greatly affects the culture. IT does so in many ways. If Egypt did not have all of the natural barriers, like the Nile, the Red Sea, The mediterranean, and the Sahara Desert, Egypt would have been attacked many times. Having these natural barriers created a sort of shield on Egypt's culture. It does so because these barriers gave Egypt the time to flourish and adapt a culture. Also with the marshes of the Delta. These marshes are home to many many papyrus plants, which is turned into paper. Without these plants, they would have nothing to write on! These are a couple of reasons egypts geographical location effects it's culture
