Both rotation and revolution involve circular motion. Rotation refers to an object spinning on its axis, while revolution involves an object moving around another object in an orbit. Both rotation and revolution contribute to the measurement of time (day and year).

The key difference is the axis of rotation: rotation occurs on an internal axis within the object itself, while revolution occurs around an external axis outside the object.

What is the difference in earth -sun relationship between revalution and rotation?

Some people like to distinguish between the two words, with revolution meaning rotation about the planet's own axis (e.g. in 24 hours), and rotation taking place around the Sun (in 365¼ days).

What is the difference between a planet's period of rotation and period of revolution?

A planet's period of rotation refers to the time it takes to complete one full spin on its axis, which determines the length of its day. On the other hand, a planet's period of revolution refers to the time it takes to orbit around its star, determining the length of its year.

Compare the period of revolution between mercury and plutowhat is the ratio between their period of rotation and why?

Mercury's period of revolution around the sun is about 88 Earth days, while Pluto's period is approximately 248 Earth years. The ratio between their periods of revolution is about 1:28. This difference is due to the much larger distance Pluto is from the sun compared to Mercury, causing it to take much longer to complete one orbit.

How many rotations does the eath complete in one revolution?

There as different meanings for rotation and revolution. In this context a revolution can be the turning of body on its axis. In which case one revolution would be the same as one rotation. That is, there would be one rotation in one revolution. A revolution can also be the movement of a body in orbit around another body. For example, the Earth makes roughly 365 rotations during one revolution around the Sun.
