The Sierra Nevada Mountains are primarily composed of granite, which is an igneous rock formed from cooled magma. This granite has been uplifted and exposed through tectonic activity over millions of years, giving the mountains their rugged and majestic appearance. Additionally, the mountains also contain a variety of other rock types such as metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.

There is Mt. Shasta and Lassen Park (Mt. Lassen), but they are both dormant. If you look on a map, it would be near the northern boundary near Oregon.
