Some special features of desert plants include adaptations like deep root systems to reach water, waxy coatings to reduce water loss, and the ability to store water in leaves or stems. Additionally, some desert plants have spines or thorns to deter herbivores and protect against water loss through transpiration.

it should be succulent, have reduced leaves some have thorns for the leaves and have hidden stomata
Glossy, thick and succulent leaves leaves to radiate the sun's heat from the plant which can prevent evaporation of water. Thorns on plants which store water so that animals cannot eat them.

The plants make and store food in their stems. The plants growing in the deserts have small leaves or may not have leaves at all. This type of adaptation help them to minimize loss of water by the process of transpiration. The roots are long to collect water that is not available in the upper layer of soil or ground. Some plants have their roots spread on the surface to absorb the moisture and water that may fall as rain. The leaves are in fact modified as spines. This help them to reduce the loss of water from the plants. The plants are bushy/throny so that the local animals do not eat their leaves.

Many of the plants in the desert have roots that are just under the surface so when it does rain the water does not have to seep into the sand very far. They are also very widely spread out so the plant can capture as much water as possible. Also plants are far apart to prevent any competition for water. Lastly some plants like cactuses store water inside of them, in their tissue.

Hope this helped. :)
