They are one of the main groups of chemicals which the life on Earth uses.

The amino acids are the functional building blocks for every organism. When a specific number of them polymerize (the amino acids bond together), a protein with specific conformation is formed.Every protein has a different function (regulatory - hormones, catalytic - enzymes, structural e.t.c.).The whole life on Earth use proteins - from the viruses, through bacteria, fungi, animals, plants to the human beings and the whole life on Earth uses the same 20 amino acids for their construction.

Amino acids are organic compounds that serve as the building blocks of proteins. They are essential for various biological processes in the body, including the synthesis of enzymes, hormones, and neurotransmitters. Amino acids also play a crucial role in tissue repair, immune function, and overall health.

They make up proteins by forming a polypeptide chain. Peptide bonds form between them.

An amino acid has the general formula: H2NC(R)(H)COOH.

Proteins are used in the body for lots of things and are coded for by DNA through the process of Protien synthesis using ribosomes as a site of production.

There are 40 amino acids in the human body.
