Basically, if the Earth were not tilted, the same amount of sun would fall on all parts of the Earth each day of the year. The polar regions would continue receiving less solar energy than the tropics on each side of the equator, but the Arctic and Antarctic would not have times of the year when the sun never sets and times when it never rises. Also, each day of the year would see a little more than 12 hours of daylight and a little less than 12 hours of darkness
The Earth's axis IS at right angles to the sun's rays at the time of the March
and September equinoxes.
If the Earth's axis were also perpendicular to the ecliptic plane, then it would
be at right angles to the sun's rays ALL the time. In that case ...
-- There wouldn't be any seasons. Each area of the earth would keep its own
climate all year long.
-- There would be 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night, all year and at all latitudes.
All axes are straight. - If the Earth's axis were perpendicular to the plane of orbit, there would be no noticeable seasons.

The straight line connecting the poles is the earth's rotational axis. The lines along the earth's surface from pole to pole are meridians or lines of longitude.
rotationis one complete spin on earths axis!!!

The Earth rotates on its axis causing either the North or South Hemishere to tilt towards the sun which ever hemishere is tilted toward the sun it is probably spring or summer.
But I AM ! The earth's axis is a straight line between the north and south poles, through the middle of the earth. Since I live in Chicago, the line straight down fromthe top of my head is tilted about 48 degrees from the axis when I'm awake, andabout 42 degrees from it when I'm asleep. I am almost never parallel to earth's axis.
The axis is the imaginary line running through the north and south poles that our planet revolves around. Earth's tilt refers to the fact that the planet does not sit perfectly straight in relation to the solar plane but rather tilts slightly to one side.
1. Tilt of earths axis 2. Earths axis remains parallel throughout its yearly orbit.
