Cortex.

---------------------

Actually both the renal cortex and medulla contain parts of the nephron. The loop of Henle lies within the medulla, everything else is in the cortex. (See pictures below)

What is the cup-shaped part of the nephron?

The cup-shaped part of the nephron is called the renal (or Bowman's) capsule. It is located at the beginning of the nephron and surrounds the glomerulus, which is a network of capillaries. The renal capsule helps in the filtration of blood and the formation of urine.

Is the juxtamedullary nephron located closer to the renal medulla?

Yes, the juxtamedullary nephron is located closer to the renal medulla compared to the cortical nephron. It has a longer loop of Henle that extends deep into the medulla, allowing for concentration of urine and regulation of water balance.

What region of the kidney would you find renal corpuscles?

Renal corpuscles are found in the renal cortex of the kidney. They are responsible for filtering blood and forming urine through the process of ultrafiltration.

What are the different types of nephrons?

There are two main types of nephrons in the kidney: cortical nephrons, which are located primarily in the outer cortex of the kidney, and juxtamedullary nephrons, which are found near the medulla and have longer loops of Henle. Cortical nephrons are more common and are responsible for most of the kidney's filtration, while juxtamedullary nephrons play a key role in the concentration of urine.

Which is the main site of fluid filtration in the kidney nephron?

The main site of fluid filtration in the kidney nephron is the glomerulus, which is a network of capillaries located in the renal corpuscle of the nephron. Here, blood is filtered to form the initial filtrate that will eventually become urine through the process of ultrafiltration.

Nephron

What are the parts of a nephron?

The parts of the nephron are the renal artery, renal vein, afferent arteriole, glomerulus, bowman's capsule, proximal tubules, distal tubules, loop of henle, renal pelvis, cortex, medulla, peritubular capillaries, and ureter.

What is the structural unit of the kidney?

Nephron is the basic structural and functional unit of the kidney. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephron It is composed of a renal corpuscle and a renal tubule. The renal corpuscle consists of a glomerulus and the Bowman's capsule. It is the nephron's initial filtering component. The components of the renal tubule are the proximal convoluted tubule, loop of Henle and the distal convoluted tubule.

What are the two main parts of a nephron?

The two main parts of a nephron are the renal tubule and the renal corpuscle. The renal tubule consists of the proximal convoluted tubule, loop of Henle, and distal convoluted tubule, responsible for filtering and processing the blood. The renal corpuscle contains the glomerulus and Bowman's capsule, where blood is filtered to form urine.
