You really need to conduct experiments with various brands of dry cereal to answer this question definitively. Using a measuring cup or beaker, you could carefully measure out 8.5 fluid ounces of each cereal and weigh each sample, and then find their average. (It might be easier to measure exactly EIGHT ounces -- not 8.5 -- for the experiment.) BTW, a cup of Kellogg's Corn Flakes weighs just one ounce (28 grams). A cup of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes weighs 1.43 ounces, which is 43 percent heavier per cup.
