very big job. the water pump must be first removed. you will need a t-8 torx bit for the rotor removal and a e-4 torx socket(reverse torx) drain coolant. remove serpentine belt. you may have to take out the electric fan. I did it without removing it but it was tighter. remove hoses from water pump. disconnect coolant sensor and unclip it from top of water pump. unbolt ignition coil bracket. unbolt and move airinjection pump. remve the 2 bolts holding the air injection pump bracket. remve water pump bolts and then the pump. remove the harmonic balancer pulley keeping note of the position of the arrow on said pulley.remove plug wires. remove the dist cap. remove rotor and replace it with new one in same position. replace with new cap and then reverse steps.
you dont! the computer controls the optispark completly...
Yes
probly a bad optispark (distibuter). Could be several things but this is the most commen problem with lt1 f bodies
Odds are you have an optispark unitl. If so it is under the water pump on the front of the engine. Look up optispark replacement on LT1 or C4 Corvette.
Passenger's side of the transmission.
275
Probably an issue with the optispark
yes it will. you might have to change the wiring harness though
275
Either a 3.4L V6 or a 5.7L 350 LT1 V8
yea it did chevy lt1 350 cubic inchs 275bhp
The problem could be your optispark distributor. They have a tendency to corrode inside and when this happens, it hinders the performance to the point that acceleration is greatly hampered. A bad optispark will also cause starting issues and engine misfires. Besides the optispark, check for a vacuum leak. Intake manifold leaks are very common on the LT1, as well as valve cover gasket leaks.
