Drifts can mean a lot of snow
Snow storms occur when moisture in the atmosphere combines with cold temperatures to produce snowfall. Snow storms typically happen in the winter months when these conditions are more likely to occur, especially in regions that experience cold winter weather. The timing and frequency of snow storms can vary depending on geographic location and climate patterns.
Snow and ice can sublime !
yes it does

Drifts can mean a lot of snow
During a snow storm, a combination of snow and wind together form dunes, or snow drifts. Snow drifts are mounds of snow that build up during a storm.
Those are snow drifts next to my car.
Among the pine trees, snow drifts and rocks.
Inside their fur... They also burrow into the snow drifts...
Building buildings off the ground in Antarctica allows the katabatic winds, which are constant, to blow ice crystals under the building and this technique prevent snow drifts. (Even though the snow drifts are fairly easy to shovel out -- there is very little humidity thus very little moisture in the snow ((it squeaks when you walk on it)) -- shoveling out the drifts does take time away from the work at hand.)

I drove right into three different snow drifts on the way home. I don't like the way my car drifts.
The likely word is "tobogganing" (riding sleds down snow-covered hills or drifts).
There is no snow in Antarctica to speak of: humidity is about 5%. Blowing ice crystals are the most common form of frozen water. Because of the wind, and the motion of the ice crystals, depths are not measured, unless there are drifts. Drifts can measure up to the roofs of buildings.
