Peacocks use body language and noises. Male peacocks use a combination when courting a female to impress her. He will flare up his tail and shake his feathers to impress the female while making clucking noises. Females also make clucking noises, and will follow close by the males they choose. Peacocks of both sexes also make loud, cawing noises on all occasions that serve as a warning call, flock locater, nesting noise, and just general talkative communication.

Peacocks communicate through a variety of vocalizations including calls, screams, and honks. They also use their vibrant iridescent feathers as a form of visual communication during courtship displays and to establish dominance within their social groups. Additionally, peacocks may use body movements such as puffing up their feathers or shaking their tail feathers to convey messages to other peacocks.
