The best way to learn a map is to break it down. Don't try to memorize the whole thing at once - divide it into ... countries! The best way to learn the whole world is to learn each country - memorize the name and shape of the country. Either repeat them over and over until you remember them, or make flashcards where you draw the shape on one side and write the name on the other - have someone help you study these, or quiz yourself by seeing how many you can do each time.

Also, if you learn something interesting that you can associate with each country, you will remember it better.

Maps can show physical features like mountains, rivers, and forests, as well as human-made features like roads and cities. By studying a map, you can understand the topography, climate, vegetation, and land use patterns of a region, helping you learn about Earth's diverse features and how they are interconnected.

The answer to this, while not very complicated has been done quite well on other sites, and is involved. So, check the related link below.

Additional Hints:
  • Locate where you are and where you want to go and using the roads that connect the 2 places, you can plan your route. You can also use a ruler or string trace the route and compare it to the scale( example:1inch equals 4miles) and get the distance traveled to calculate the time it takes to get there.
  • To read a map, it's important to pay attention to the scale. Typically toward the edge of the page, there will be a small diagram showing the conversion rate for mileage between tow points. For example, if 1 inch equals 1 mile, then 6.5 inches between two places would mean 6.5 miles. Also, pay attention to direction. North is always the top of the map, East is the right, South is at the bottom and West is to the left.
