Yep.. see my site www.butkus.org/initial/ Yes, I have one. So far it works well. The user guide is nearly useless but the system functions fine. The display is easily visible day or night. The MP3 Player also plays wma files. Navigation is easy and works as well as any other computer navigation system.
If you want a GPS unit that simple takes you to your destination, here ya go. It doesn't take pictures or play videos or give you moon phases - it just tells you how to get someplace. The larger screen is nice but the fonts used for street names can be a little hard to read. The Initial uses the same NAVTEQ data as the name brands so the directional performance should be the same. But as has been said, getting an update is unlikely.. Good basic large screen unit for the money.

While it may not have the advanced features of modern systems, it played a significant role in popularizing GPS technology for navigation purposes.

In case they cause interference with the aircraft's many communications and navigation systems. On the ground, airborne cell-phones also cause chaos among the base stations because a phone in an aircraft can be heard from many base-stations and they all start autimatically competing and hunting to take the channel.

can't be heard on the voice recognition
I loved some, was confused by others.
I have not heard of nor have I seen any gps devices which have dvd players in them. A gps is a navigation device, not an entertainment device to play movies.
