Blood plasma, I believe. Your body sends the fluid to the wound in order to help heal it, and excess liquid leaks out. Its nothing to worry about unless its yellowish or there is also pus. That would be a sign of infection, and you should get it cleaned.

If the wound is producing clear liquid, it is likely serous fluid, a normal part of the healing process. Keep the wound clean and covered to prevent infection. If the clear liquid becomes discolored, foul-smelling, or the area around the wound becomes red or swollen, seek medical attention as this may indicate an infection.

With a severe laceration can you bleed both blood and water?

You cannot bleed water. However, in addition to bleeding, a wound may pass a clear liquid that may appear to be water, but isn't -- it's serum. This is the liquid that suspends or holds blood cells. On examination, if it's healthy, it's clear and slightly yellow-tinted. [[User:Cjonb|Cjonb]] 16:37, 3 Jun 2008 (UTC)
