This is possible, but unlikely. Diesel engines detonate fuel using pressure and temperature, rather than with an artificial spark. This process operates with excessive oxygen, ensuring a much more complete combustion than what is typical in a gasoline engine. Typically, diesel exhaust contains some carbon monoxide, but the amounts are very minimal and not fatal for an otherwise healthy person. The author of this answer used to work as an over-the-road truck driver, and once had an experience where a neighboring truck was basically pumping diesel fumes straight into the sleeper vent all night. The inside of the sleeper was all hazy and the diesel odor was extremely strong, but it did not cause any health problems beyond teary eyes. It is completely possible to get carbon monoxide poisoning from a diesel engine in a road tractor. Contributing factors such as weather, temperature, and engine condition can greatly affect the chance of carbon monoxide poisoning. A good example of this is that a driver in a truck with an exhaust problem when it is cold and raining is at greater risk than the same person in the same truck on a sunny day. The reason for this is the barometric pressure holds the carbon monoxide closer to the ground and allows it to enter the truck.

Yes, diesel semi trucks produce carbon monoxide as a byproduct of combustion. Exposure to high levels of carbon monoxide emitted by diesel engines in enclosed spaces or over prolonged periods of time can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning. It is important to ensure proper ventilation and maintenance to minimize the risk of exposure.

Generally, VERY much lower production of monoxide than a gasoline engine- about 28 times less. This is why diesel powered machinery can be operated in underground mines, but not gasoline powered equipment. There IS a small amount that is produced.

Yes, diesel exhaust may contain CO if not enough air is supplied to the combustion chamber. If sufficient air is present the carbon is oxizied to carbon dioxide.

Carbon monoxide From Freightliner Comerical Trucks?

Carbon monoxide emissions from Freightliner commercial trucks can be harmful to human health and the environment. To reduce these emissions, Freightliner has been incorporating advanced technologies such as diesel particulate filters and selective catalytic reduction systems in their newer models to meet emission standards. Regular maintenance and proper engine tuning can also help minimize carbon monoxide emissions from Freightliner trucks.

What is an example of carbon monoxide?

A common example of carbon monoxide is the gas produced by cars, trucks, and other vehicles that burn fossil fuels. Carbon monoxide is also released by malfunctioning gas appliances in homes.

Why should gas-powered trucks not be allowed to idle for long periods in semi-enclosed or enclosed areas?

The exhaust from gas powered engines contains carbon monoxide and in an enclosed area it can reach hazardous levels.

How much automotive exhaust is produced by cars each year?

Vehicle exhaust is mostly carbon dioxide, with a little water, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides. This answer deals with the carbon dioxide content only.Sixteen percent (16%) of human carbon dioxide greenhouse gas emissions comes from road transport (cars, trucks and buses). Cars are responsible for about half of this (8%).Humans are responsible for around 35 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year.Car emissions, 8% of that total, is around 2.8 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide (2,800,000,000).

What are causes of carbon emission?

The causes of carbon emissions are humans. We humans use fuel by DRIVING TOO MANY FUEL CARS AND TRUCKS!

Catalytic converters.

How are carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide emitted?

Carbon dioxide is mainly emitted through the combustion of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes. Carbon monoxide is primarily emitted by incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, biomass burning, and vehicle emissions. Both gases are significant contributors to air pollution and can have negative impacts on human health and the environment.

What cars are diesel?

The type of vehicles that have a diesel engine are pickup trucks, vans, semi trucks, box trucks, some smaller cars such as sedans and also some suvs have diesel engines in them. The GMC sierra has an duramax diesel in it.

Why are diesel trucks better than gasoline trucks?

Diesel trucks are generally better than gasoline trucks due to the fact that fuel is cheaper and you will pay significantly less at the pump. Diesel trucks also tend to have a high longevity in their life span and they run much cleaner than gasoline trucks. Diesel is the way to go overall for purchasing a truck.

Diesel Trucks for Sale Have Several Advantages?

People choose to look for diesel trucks for sale for a variety of reasons. They might need them for work, or they might be using them to tow recreational vehicles or boats to get them where they want them. They may also choose to seek diesel trucks for sale if they enjoy going off-roading. There are several advantages that diesel engines have over typical gasoline engines, including the mileage and the trade in value of the vehicle itself. Because of the fact that a new vehicle loses value quite rapidly in its first few years, many people who are serious about trucks decide to go after diesel trucks for sale. While it is true that it can sometimes be more difficult to find a diesel truck than a typical truck, their are several advantages that they have. It might be true that diesel trucks tend to cost a little bit more up front, but diesel trucks tend to hold onto their value for much longer. By comparing otherwise identical trucks with one another, you can see that used diesel trucks cost quite a bit more than new diesel trucks. Of course, if you care at all about your vehicle, the reason why it costs more should be more important to you than the financial advantages. Diesel engines are simply more reliable and last longer than typical gasoline engines. When put under heavy strain for long periods of time, they are especially resilient. Another advantage that is especially beneficial in this economy is the gas mileage. Diesel trucks can offer as much as a third more miles to the gallon than gasoline driven trucks. It is sometimes true that diesel can cost a little more than gasoline. Nevertheless, the prices of diesel hold much more steady than the prices of gasoline. The market for diesel is much less volatile, and tends not to spike in price suddenly, the way that gasoline does. In comparison with gasoline trucks, there are not too many disadvantages to diesel trucks. Of course, diesel trucks for sale tend to cost more than gas-powered trucks, as has already been discussed. There is, of course, the smell of diesel. Unlike the carbon monoxide emissions from gas-powered trucks, diesel does have a distinct smell. In the end, however, the added fuel mileage, increased reliability, and longer lasting market value all add up to make the diesel-powered truck a better option for many people.

What percent of trucks are diesel?
