your filter is probably plugged or your fluid is burnt Additional info by Mandilon: If filter were clogged-up it wouldn't move in either direction. Burnt fluid; -ditto. The 'front' drum clutches are burned-up. The front drum clutches are 'applied' for all forward gears. Only the rear drum clutches and the reverse band are applied for reverse. Replacing the front drum clutches and seals will 'get it moving' thought it really needs an overhaul.

It needs the code. Call, your dealer. That has nothing to do with it. Got to a ford or mercury dealer and they will tell you they no nothing about it. It is the fleet installed cell phone that is causing the problem. Turn the car on, turn the cell phone on, wait a minute, the turn cell phone off. Radio will the work. If you do not still have the cell phone handset, get and hook it up. then do as above says. I had the same problem, and solved the problem by turning cell phone on and the turning it off again.
