Why did Whitney Houston not sing We Are the World?

It is difficult to know the answer to this, but there are several possibilities. First, nothing sinister or negative should be assumed about the artists who did not perform on it. In January 1985, when it was recorded, a large number of artists were asked to participate. Many did, but others were unable to clear out the time in their schedules; some were touring, others were recording, and others were not considered well-known enough to be asked. In January 1985, Whitney Houston was not yet famous. She had sung back-up vocals for others, but her own solo album was not yet released. It may be she was not asked to perform, or it may be she had other commitments for her new record company. In either case, her lack of participation is does not mean that she was unwilling or uncaring.

It is an all star collaboration. She would have stolen the spotlight with her

amazing voice. I wish she was still alive to do another rendition of the song with today's musical talent.

I miss her so much. She will always be the Greatest singer of all time.
