Why did Michael McCary retire from Boyz II Men?

Boyz II Men recently performed on the season finale of Sing Off. However, the group's bass singer, Michael McCary, was noticeably absent.

Michael McCary left the group in 2003 due to chronic Back pain from scoliosis. The group has been a trio for the past six years.

1. health problems stemming from scoliosis

2. personal problems relating to his wife. she did not like him touring.

3. Michael's relationship with the Boyz, especially Shawn and Wanya, was deteriorating.

4. Michael is now going through a divorce, and attempting to start an acting career.

No he is not dead. According to a Biography of the group shown on BET; Michael McCary and Shawn had a physical altercation after Michael did not show to do a concert in Romania. The group announced on their official website on January 10th of 2010 that Michael McCary is no longer a member.
