This aphorism was first attributed to Alexander Pope in "An Essay on Criticism" (written in 1709, first published in 1711). His full quote is, "Fools rush in where angels fear to tread." Johnny Mercer and Rube Bloom used the aphorism in a 1940 song entitled, Fools Rush In. The song was later recorded by several artists including Glenn Miller with Ray Eberle, Tommy Dorsey with Frank Sinatra, Etta James, Brook Benton (1962), Doris Day and André Previn in their 1962 album Duet, and Rick Nelson (1963). Elvis Presley recorded the song in Nashville in 1970 which was released on the 1971 album Elvis Now.

Marc Shaiman wrote the music to "You Can't Stop the Beat" and wrote the lyrics with Scott Wittman.
