He went from playing in covers bands in high school and college in the '60's to a varied career that included the self-penned debut album "Dave Antrell" in 1970 (backed by the "wrecking crew" and long considered a classic of the "sunshine pop" genre), a successful career as a physician, becoming the widely-acknowledged "Doctor of Doo-Wop" for not only his string of note perfect productions of modern doo-wop standards (that appeared in various television and movie productions as varied as The Sopranos and American Horror Story and typically involved him overdubbing every harmony, bass to falsetto, with his own voice) but also for his highly respected collection of obscure doo-wop 45 rpm recordings.
