David Lee Roth never left the Van Halen band. He still tours with them.
Actually David Lee Roth officially left the band on 01 April 1985. But did re-unite to do a few songs with them in 1996 only and then came back just for a re-unite tour in 2003.
They've never broken up they've had singers come and go. Roth left in 1985. Hagar left or was booted in '96. Gary was booted after only a few years and one album. Sammy came back and left shortly. Roth came back and is still lead singer. The bass player was then booted and replaced by Eddie's son Wolfgang. I know it's a big long soap Opera.
Sammy Hagar left Van Halen in 1996. Sammy Hager, born October 13, 1947, in Salinas California. Hager is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen.
Sammy Hagar replaced David Lee Roth after Roth left Van Halen in 1985. The first album to feature the band's new singer was 5150, and it was the band's first number one album. Hagar went on to record and tour with Van Halen until the late 1990s.

David Lee Roth and Van Halen. No, just Van Halen. Sure David Lee Roth was in the band, but at the time there was no question of them being separate entities.

That is not a Van Halen song, it was a solo David Lee Roth song in the mid 80's.
In my opinion, Aerosmith is the better band. They have inspired metallica. Van halen made lots of good music until 1984 when david lee roth left (too me)
