Series 10 Guitars were made by Saint Louis Music Co. SLM Co was purchased from Bentley in the early 80's. The Series 10 name covered the electric models, while the Bentley name continued on as the acoustic brand into the late 90's. There were made in Korea for the most part, at a time when manufacture there was in a boon period. The construction and assembly are top notch. Some of the materials may not have been expensive, but the skill and design were excellent. Essentially marketed as an entry to intermediate level instrument , there were offshoots of the basic line, such as the Special Editions and Professional models. The "Professional" models are especially sought after, as they used solid woods and hardware materials, providing a foundation for an exceptionally well constructed guitar. The necks are especially noted for their durability and feel. Electronics (the pots, switch and jack wiring) are a weak element, but the price point of these guitars made upgrading a logical option. The OEM's pickup design used in the Series 10 Professional provided microphonic elements that were pleasing and not excessive , and are sought after by some players who have had experience with the pickups and value their tonal capabilities.
