Christ! That's an obscure artist!

Good thing I have that old record handy.

The words go something like this.

It was in the town of Waitsburg

In the state of Washington

That's where I made some money

When I was twenty-one

Working in a canery

In that little northwest town

And looking for entertainment

When the evening sun went down

Well I'd go down to the bar

With a couple of friends of mine

They sold the beer in empty gallon jugs

Of tokee wine

And we'd drive around

that lonesome town

In a '53 black Ford

Tryin' to find the kind of woman a laborer

Can afford

Now me, I was kinda lucky

Found one right away

And she lived right here in Waitsburg

And she met me everyday

On a little eooden bench

That sat outside the restaurant

She was always willing to give me

Anything I'd want

My friends, they had to travel

About 20 miles away

Down south to Walla Walla

Where a lot more women stayed

One got hung on an artist there

And the other got chanced to me

Some kinda women with a hungry heart

At 1010 oak street

Well, the one who was hung on the artist

It broke his heart to leave

And the other began to suffer from some

Venerial disease

To this day it seems to me

That I'm the only one

Who has a pleasant memory

Of a girl in Washington
