Engine speed sensor circuit malfuntion
Idle speed is computer controlled and is not adjustable. If the speed is incorrect, then you need to diagnose the TPS, the idle air control motor, and check for a vacuum leak.
You're probably talking about the input speed sensor and/or the output speed sensor (if your model has one). They are about $20-$30 a piece, it's a cheap fix.
The 2014 Jeep Grand-Cherokee has a 8-speed shiftable automatic.
standing at the radiator it is the 2 wire sensor all the way to the right of the transmission case. standing at the radiator it is the 2 wire sensor all the way to the right of the front of the transmission case
Trouble code P0720 means:Output speed sensor circuit malfunction
A 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a four speed automatic transmission.
No, it should have a 4 speed transmission.
in the valve body which is inside the transmission.
Yes
Look on the back on the transfer case. There should be one wire running from it. That's your speed sensor. -- Blake.
On my 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7 are 2 sensors. They are both located on drivers side of transmission. The one close to bell housing is input shaft speed sensor. The one at end of transmission is output shaft speed sensor. My input sensor went bad but replaced both. Both sensors are the same. Fairly easy to change out. About $47.00 each at dealer.
The vehicle speed signal (speedometer) comes from the abs sensor on the rear axle.
The speed sensor is located on the drivers side of the transfercase, you will see a sensor with a connector, that is your sensor.
Engine speed sensor circuit malfuntion
The output speed sensor in located on the left side(drivers side)at the rear of the tranmission. The input speed sensor is located in the front of the transmiison on the left side as well, and yes both speed senors are interchangable. This information is for a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0 (6 cyl). The speed sensor costs around $26.00 at auto zone. The senor screws in and out, just make sure you have a catch pan to catch the transmission fuild that will come out. And do yer self a favor and DON'T reuse the the fuild that came out of the transmission!!! Transmission oil is cheap compared to repairing a transmission. someone out..... Also the speedometer signal comes form the ABS sensor on the rear axle.
Pre 1998, it is on the back of the trans/transfer case After 1998, it is the rear axle abs sensor on top of the rear axle.
