There is a fuse box under the hood in the engine compartment. It looks like a rectangular shaped black box on the drivers side. There should be a diagram underneath the cover of the fuse box that shows you what each fuse does. It can be confusing. If you are having trouble understanding the diagram (like me) locate 2 fuses that are separated from the others. One is a 7.5 amp and the other is a 25 amp fuse. The 25 amp fuse is for the stereo. That is where it is on my 2006 highlander it could be different on another year. Hope this helps.

Another View: No year is given for the Highlander in the question. I have an '06 and the radio fuse is located in the fuse panel underneath the bottom of the left hand side of the dash board to the left of the steering column.

Under the hood on the driver's side. It is NOT inside the cab, as I found out the hard way! G'luck!

The 1999 Toyota Avalon radio has two fuses. There is an in-line fuse behind the radio. There is a radio fuse in the fuse box.
