I had this problem when i installed a CB radio in my 94 f150. It turned out to be a bad ground. I was sure the spot I first chose to ground the radio was a good one, I was wrong. I moved the ground once or twice and found a good spot.
The fuse should be in the fusebox for it, look in your owners manual for it's position in the fusebox.
In the Underhood Fuseblock located in the Engine Compartment, just beside the Battery...
Radio has it's own fuse in the back of the radio

It will tell you in your owners manual if you have it.
it is fuse 36
Is the number 30 on the fuse? This refers to the amperage that the fuse can take. If your looking for what a particular fuse connects to, usually you can find a key on the door of the fuse access panel. Otherwise, try contacting the dealer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The owners manual for the 1998 F150 shows fuse # 30 as a 30 amp fuse for the Ignition Coil , PCM Power Diode , Radio Noise Capaciter
Under the hood beside the battier

Need a fuse diagram for f150 1991 4x4. Check the drivers manual, that info is in there.
U DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE DASH TO GET OUT THE RADIO. YOU NEED A FORD RADIO TOOL THAT CAN BE BOUGHT AT ANY AUTO PARTS STORE. THERE ARE 2 SMALL HOLES ON EACH OUT SIDE EDGE OF THE FRONT OF THE RADIO STICK THE U SHAPED TOOL INTO THE HOLES AND PUSH THE TOOL TOWARDS THE OUTER EDGES IT WILL RELEASE THE CLIPS AND PULL FORWARD THE RADIO WILL SLIDE RIGHT OUT
have not seen any information yet of the F150 fuse box
A poor connection for the IOD fuse in the fuse box under the hood.
