Here is input from FAQ Farmers: * The halleffect sensor is located behind the harmonic balancer and lower pulley. To replace it,I think you need to remove the balancer. * The crank shaft sensor is behind the coil pack/ignition control module assembly. You have to remove the heat sink plate and it is mounted to the back with 2 bolts. To remove the entire assembly there are 3 bolts, one of the bolts has a nut on the top where the ground wire is attached. Remove the nut and 3 bolts and pull straight out carefully, the crank shaft sensor is in the block and may brake off, try not to brake the sensor off.
I don't know if it's the same for all engines, but on a 2.3, it's right above the oil filter. It is a HUGE PAIN to get out without breaking it! And if you do break it, it's an even BIGGER PAIN to get the broken piece out!
I'm dealing with the same thing right now. Some people have suggested trying to put a small screw in the plastic outer ring and use a vice-grip to pull it out. If that doesn't work, push it out the bottom through the oil pan.
Be careful!!!
Camshaft Position Sensor
Under hood, center, upper engine area, mounted on front of intake manifold and behind Throttle Body assembly. It is a one bolt attachment. You will also note that it is located right under the throttle cables on their way to the Throttle Body Assembly. I just changed mine very easy to do. Just need to remove throttle cables from Throttle Body Assembly and remove the one bolt. I bought mine at CarQuest for $31.
Assuming that you have a 3.8L Engine:
It is behind the crank pulley/harmonic balancer.
First find the serpentine belt. You'll notice that it goes around several pulleys. The bottom-most pulley is the harmonic balancer.
To access:
First remove the serpentine belt and the right front tire. Then remove the plastic cover behind the tire. Then, remove the bolt at the center of the pulley. Then use a three-bolt puller or special tool (your choice) to remove the pulley. Do not use a jaw-type puller. There is a cover behind the harmonic balancer clipped on at three points. First unplug the crank sensor, then pull the cover to remove the cover.
Behold the crank sensor in all it's majesty!

The cam position sensor is in the distributor. on both engines. The crank postion sensor goes through the top left of the bell housing on the 4.0L and the top right on the V8.
