Ashfalt comes from under ground near mines, not from volcanos.

They mine ashfalt for roads.

Ashfalt is not a volcanic rock!

Not usually. While asphalt can be found in natural deposits known as asphaltum, generally asphalt is produced as a byproduct of oil refining, produced as a distillation fraction during the refining process. It is a refined version of the bitumen in crude oil, and added to gravel and heated, then compressed to a hard, flat surface, produces a flat and durable road surface.
