Denver was born in Roswell, New Mexico but since Denver's father was in the military, the family moved often, making it hard for young John to make friends and fit in with people his own age. Denver was happier in Tucson, Arizona, than anywhere else; but his father was transferred to Montgomery, Alabama, in the midst of the Montgomery boycotts. The family later moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where Denver graduated from Arlington Heights High School. The couple (Anne) lived in Edina from 1968 to 1971, when they moved to California, although following the success of "Rocky Mountain High", Denver purchased an additional residence in Colorado, and in fact, owned one or more homes in Colorado, continuously, right up until his death.

My dad lived in Corn Oklahoma where Johns parent's farm land was connected to my dad's parent's farm land. They were both young boys when they would meet up at fence corner with wood post.

John Denver had been drinking heavily in the time before he died, however he is not believed to have been intoxicated when he crashed.
