Chopin began to compose before he was seven and made his first public appearances as a pianist. After leaving school at 16, he enrolled in the Warsaw Conservatory and began composing seriously. He travelled to Vienna and subesquently spent most of his time in Paris, with a visit to England. He never married, but had a variety of lovers.

Chopin was born in Zelazowa Wola (in Poland), but moved to Warsaw when he was 7 months old. He grew up there, and was influenced by Polish culture.
