Chopin was born in Zelazowa Wola (in Poland), but moved to Warsaw when he was 7 months old. He grew up there, and was influenced by Polish culture. As a youth, his family vacationed in the Polish countryside, where he heard and saw the music and dances of the Polish peasants; this influenced Chopin's music greatly.
