He was one of the people that started the glam rock movement (mark bolan of T.rex was another) he was one of the most sucssecful artists of the 70's and has always had quiet a few albums in lists of top albums ever or of the 70's with things like hunky dory, low, aladin sane and, probably the most famous, the rise and fall of ziggy star dust and the Spiders from mars, which was given "at least 99 out of 100" as a review from a top music reviewing magazine (Rolling Stones or Q, I'm not 100 persent sure but i think it's rolling stones).
