The 1999 Jeep Cherokee ignition coil used a black wire for the negative wire. The negative wire should be on the left post.
Usually only one wire there, but some are heated O2 sensors, that wire will have 12 volts while ignition is on.
I have a 95 cherokee. had lots of trouble with the coil blowing out till I ran a direct body ground to the coil mount. try changing the coil and running a ground wire from the frame or metal body direct to the coil mount. RW
Your tach wire color is Gray. And it's located at Coil on passenger side of the engine. This goes for 1997 through 2001.

If your 1977 Goldwing GL1000 is not producing a spark, it could be due to several factors. Common issues include a faulty ignition coil, worn spark plugs, or problems with the ignition system, such as a malfunctioning ignition switch or a broken wire. Additionally, check the battery voltage to ensure it’s sufficient, as a weak battery can affect spark generation. Inspecting these components should help you identify the problem.
The dark green/orange wire is the power feed.
follow the coil wire in the center of the distributor cap back ( this is from the Hayne's repair manual )
thganr
the green is the signal wire and it goes to the negative side of the ignition coil
To wire the ignition coil to the distributor on a 1966 Chevelle, connect the positive terminal of the ignition coil (marked as "B" or "+") to the positive side of the battery or ignition switch. Then, connect the negative terminal of the ignition coil (marked as "C" or "-") to the distributor's primary wire, which runs to the ignition points. Ensure that all connections are secure and insulated to prevent short circuits. Finally, check that the ignition system is properly grounded for optimal performance.
It's the wire coming from the negative side of the coil.
To wire a coil to a 305 Chevy engine, first ensure the ignition is off. Connect the positive terminal of the coil (often marked "B+" or "12V") to the ignition switch's power source, typically a wire coming from the ignition switch. Connect the negative terminal (marked "B-" or "GND") to the distributor's ignition control wire. Make sure all connections are secure and insulated to prevent shorts.
The ignition coil wire diagram can be found on Mustangs And Fords website (link to diagram below).

On a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville, the tach wire at the coil pack is typically found near the ignition coil's connector. It is usually a gray wire that connects to the negative terminal of the ignition coil. This wire sends a signal to the tachometer to indicate engine RPM. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for precise wiring diagrams and specifications.
There is no coil wire. There is a coil pack and connected to the coil pack is the ignition control module.
To install a Sunpro Super Tach 2, first disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety. Mount the tachometer in a suitable location on your dashboard. Connect the positive wire to the ignition switch or a 12V power source, and the negative wire to a ground point. Finally, connect the signal wire to the ignition coil or the negative terminal of the coil for accurate RPM readings.
