Kurt had a painful, mysterious stomach ailment while still alive. I don't think anyone ever quite pinned it down. He said in many of his interviews/writings that it was one of the reasons he decided to try heroin. Whether the stomach pain was really a reason, I don't know. I also seem to recall reading (somewhere) that he had scoliosis. Also, (something I read in "Cobain"...the Rolling Stone book) when he was young, about 5 I think, he was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. I don't know whether you consider addiction an ailment, but it wasn't exactly healthy. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

It was never actually fully figured out. He was diagnosed with IBS, because he said that vegetables hurt his stomach and dairy products soothed it. He even drank this one type of strawberry milk a lot because he said it 'coated' his stomach. No one really knew for sure, but it was definitely a debilitating disease that had symptoms appearing at random and intermittent times. It was even the original pusher for Kurt to start using heroin. He said it was the only thing that made the constant pain go away completely.
