"The idea of the song is that if you have a falling out with someone, then you have to look at it like the falling out is happening to both people, not just you. And then try to see what you're fighting against, which isn't the other person, but the thing you're fighting about. And then, instead of fighting about it, you should ally yourself with that other person to fight that thing, together. "
But I personally would understand it differently. In the end, you need what this song means to you on your own.
