I've read that it was about one of the band member wanting to leave.

I interpreted it differently as anyone else would. Everyone feels different when listening to a song. It reminds definitely reminds me of someone leaving though. Or someone trying to get away from something.

This song was written for their drummer Paul Brennan 'Binzer' and about him trying to decide whether to stay or leave the Frames.

It was around the time that they were starting to record the "Dance The Devil" album.

The song was introduced live with a story: If in your life you ever reach a wall, an unsurpassable thing, something that where you can't get past this place; you're stuck in front of it; you try to go under; you try to go over; you try to go around; but you can't get past it. It's just a dead end.

There is always another option. You can turn 180 degrees and walk around the whole world, until you're at the other side of the wall and find yourself exactly where you need to be. It's gonna take a little time sometimes. But this song is about that; about taking the long way.
